CET Impact Fund - Managing Partner

Clean Energy Trust is hiring a Managing Partner to lead a new fund to invest in Series Seed and Series A cleantech companies.

Clean Energy Trust (CET) is hiring a Managing Partner to launch and lead a new early-stage venture fund, the Impact Fund. The new $35m-$45m fund will invest in and lead Seed and Series A deals. As Managing Partner, you will lead all aspects of structuring the fund, working with outside counsel to create partnership agreements, raising capital from limited partners (LPs), representing the fund at conferences and other public events, and sourcing, diligencing, and investing in high-impact companies. CET has funding to support this position and the expenses associated with structuring and raising the fund. This is a full-time position based in Chicago, IL.

CET was established in 2010 by Nick Pritzker and Michael Polsky to advance sustainable technology innovation by supporting early-stage startups. At CET we have developed the 501vc® model to combine the best of venture capital and a mission-driven non-profit to invest in the next generation of companies that will conserve natural resources, protect the environment, and prevent climate change. Through our existing evergreen, revolving Seed Fund, we have invested in 31 companies, often as the first institutional investor. The new Impact Fund will be an independent fund operating in partnership with CET.

We are building this fund to help fill the capital gap that exists for early-stage sustainable technology. The Impact Fund will leverage CET’s sector expertise and 10 years of building a vibrant ecosystem throughout the Midwest. Over the past 18 months, in partnership with our board of directors and other outside experts, CET has conducted extensive market research, interviewed potential LPs about the fund, and built a financial model that shows the fund’s potential to achieve attractive returns.

Success Factors:

  • Experienced VC investor in an LP-backed fund who has led direct investments
  • Passionate about cleantech, energy, and the environment
  • Existing relationships with limited partners, VC firms, and corporate strategics
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and leadership skills
